ONE Friday Fights 124 Results: Suriyanlek Stuns Decho, Ramazanov Finishes Dernchon
ONE Friday Fights 124 delivered another wild event to fans at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and those watching around the world on September 12.
Some of the series’ top athletes were at their best, while promotional newcomers etched their names in ONE Championship territory.
Here’s what went down in the main event and featured fight live in Asia primetime this week.
Suriyanlek Snatches Victory From Decho In Fierce Thriller
Suriyanlek Por Yenying and Thai compatriot Decho Por Borirak threw hammers at each other for nine straight minutes in their 132-pound Muay Thai main event – and it resulted in three knockdowns between both fighters.
The battle-tested veteran struggled to find a way past his rangy opponent’s long guard and even longer jab from the get-go. At the same time, Decho did a fabulous job of using his reach to punish the Tor Sangtiennoi athlete with low kicks.
But in round two, the man with the wildest hair in Muay Thai pushed his way through Decho’s defense and started pummeling him with hooks. Decho retreated, but only for a minute as he rallied back with high kicks.
Then, in round three, all chaos broke loose. Just five seconds into the final frame, Suriyanlek shattered Decho’s jaw with a right hook that sent him down for an eight-count. The latter answered the referee’s count and marched back into the fight.
Forty-five seconds later, Suriyanlek threw a dizzying punch combination that left Decho on the canvas again. But, once more, he climbed to his feet with redemption on his mind.
With both men trading inside the pocket, Decho clipped his counterpart with an elbow, and now it was Suriyanlek’s turn to peel himself off the canvas and stand before the referee for an eight-count.
Surprisingly, when the fight ended, both men were still standing. Unsurprisingly, so was everyone else at Lumpinee Stadium. In the end, Suriyanlek walked away with the unanimous decision to improve his record to 84-29.
Ramazanov Flatlines Dernchon In One Round
Already-contracted Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov needed just one round to decimate his Thai opponent in his return to the global stage.
The former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion traded dangerous punches with Dernchon Lukjaomaesaithong from the very start of their featherweight Muay Thai showdown.
Punch for punch, the two stout and capable fighters tested each other’s chins to keep fans in attendance sitting on the edge of their seats.
“Babyface Killer” landed the heavier shots first, though, leaving Dernchon on shaky legs. But the man from Lukjaomaesaithong fired back, stopping the Team Mehdi Zatout athlete where he stood.
Then, with just one second remaining in the round, the Russian landed a right cross that collapsed Dernchon to the canvas.
With the victory, Ramazanov improved his all-striking record to 65-10.
