‘I Want To Make History’ – Roman Kryklia Hungry For Third World Title Against Samet Agdeve At ONE Fight Night 37
Towering two-sport ONE World Champion Roman Kryklia will be looking to make history once again when he makes his highly anticipated return to the ONE Championship ring.
On Friday, November 7, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok, Thailand, the 6-foot-6-inch tall Ukrainian powerhouse will face undefeated Turkish sensation Samet “The King” Agdeve for the inaugural ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Championship at ONE Fight Night 37 on Prime Video.
Kryklia is ready to put together another explosive showing and win a third belt to cement his legacy as one of striking martial arts’ all-time greats.
The light heavyweight kickboxing and heavyweight Muay Thai World Champion has remained flawless in the world’s largest martial arts organization, delivering seven straight victories, including six devastating finishes while extending a 15-fight winning streak that began in 2018.
That dominance was on full display at ONE Fight Night 30 this past April, where Kryklia floored former WBC World Champion Lyndon Knowles three times in the opening round to successfully defend his heavyweight Muay Thai crown.
One would think that having two World Titles over his broad shoulders would be enough, but it has only fueled Kryklia’s desire for more. The 34-year-old now sets his sights on putting forth another historic performance and capturing another golden belt.
The Champ Belts representative said:
“When you become a champion, you feel pressure more and more with time. People see me as the most dominant heavyweight striker in the world. It gives big pressure, but I don’t care because of my discipline.
“I want people in the future to remember me as the most technical heavyweight striker in the world.”
That pursuit of excellence never allows Kryklia to rest. The dual-sport king refuses to be satisfied with what he currently has in his trophy case. He treats every achievement as merely another step higher on the ladder, in an endless climb to greatness.
Where other athletes might grow complacent, Kryklia’s fire continues to burn brightly and his drive has only intensified. He explained:
“I never have problems with motivation. Discipline is my biggest motivation. I just want to show what I can do.
“I want to make history. I want to return the attention of people to heavyweight. That’s why I’m very hungry. And I’m going forward.”
Kryklia’s Pursuit Of Perfection Never Stops
Glory on the world’s grandest stage only tells part of Roman Kryklia’s story — the knockouts, the pristine professional record, the collection of World Titles under the bright lights. But the real work unfolds in empty gyms where no one watches.
Perfection doesn’t exist in combat sports, and the two-division, two-sport king understands that better than anybody. Countless hours drilling defensive sequences, fixing a single flaw — the work never ends, and that relentless approach explains why he’s the best at what he does.
However, Kryklia refuses to view himself as the greatest, not out of false modesty, but because he believes that the moment a fighter buys his own hype is the moment he stops improving:
“I can never say that I am [the] GOAT, the best one. Because I will try to be better and better, from fight to fight, from time to time.
“I have faced some of the best strikers in the world. And what makes me different is my [trust] in my coach, my discipline, and my desire to win.”
The journey has been long and arduous for the Ukrainian icon, but the destination has always been clear for Kryklia. Everything he’s sacrificed — everything he’s built — has led him to this moment in Bangkok.
A victory over Samet Agdeve on November 7 will complete his journey to martial arts immortality. For Kryklia, it’s not just about wrapping another belt around his waist. It’s about fulfilling his destiny.
The 34-year-old concluded:
“When they put the new belt on my shoulder, it just means that [I’ve taken] one more step in my way to the very top of the striking world, and I think this is the place where I want to be.”
